Maths puzzle Thursday/Friday

A farmer is working in a field. He has an empty 5 litre can and an empty 3 litre can. There are no markings on the cans but they measure 5 litres and 3 litres accurately. The problem is the farmer wants to mix some weedkiller with exactly 4 litres of water (there is a well in the field). How will he measure 4 litres?
