Green Schools

Green schools is a themed programme where we initially focused on the theme of Litter and Waste. We worked through seven steps for this theme and applied for our first green flag. Once this was successfully achieved the school moved onto the Energy theme and then onto the Water theme.

Travel is the fourth theme of the Green schools programme. As part of our action plan over the next two years we will set our own travel targets, with the ultimate aim of increasing the number of pupils walking, cycling, park ‘n’ stride and carpooling which will ease congestion by reducing the number of private cars arriving at the school gates.

Stonehall Received It’s Water Flag
We were delighted to hear that our application for our Water Flag was successful. The Green Flag was presented to members of The Green Schools Committee by An Taisce on 20th May in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Galway.
