We began a project in September 2021 with the three other school in the Newmarket on Fergus parish and under the guidance of Mr. Michael Browne of the Clare Education Centre. It was a collaborative learning process in which we worked under the theme of ‘Our Shared Heritage’. We decided to focus on some of the historical areas in the parish. In Stonehall National School we focused on the castles which would have been in the parish throughout time. What is left of these castles and tower houses varies from ruins, to not a trace right up to some being used for both domestic living as well as tourism attractions.
